Greetings, my name is Marcus and I am a grade 9 student at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary. I wish to teach elementary students Math and enhanced their problem solving abilities. I live in Richmond but I will be pleasured to work with students who live in Vancouver too. I am fluent in both English and Mandarin, so I can also teach ELL students and at the same time help them with their English if the situation calls for it. I believe my lessons can give my students a deeper understanding and grasp on various Math concepts to prepare them for what's to come; after all, a solid foundation is important. My teaching principle for this subject is that I believe that a student will only truly understand and remember how to do a question or use a concept if they understand the meaning behind it. Here are two of my recent achievements:

- I was on the grade 8 Churchill Math Contest team last year and we competed with other schools. We got second in our pool as a team and moved on to the second round(there were 8 teams per pool).
- In the recent grade 9 Math contest(the Pascal contest), I placed 4th in Churchill.
- I got on the principal's list in term 2 of this school year and scored an average grade of 94%

Additionally, since I am also a student myself, I share their insight on matters and understand how they think and feel better than average adults. I believe that this quality of mine will help me when I teach.

I can help a student in one of the three following ways:
- Help them with what they're struggling with(Algebra, Geometry...)
- Do previews on upcoming chapters to prepare them for those
- Teach them more than the school offers

Throughout my courses, I will be sharing strategies I took-up in my elementary and high school years to help my students think more critically and problem solve better(contest strategies, word question strategies... i.e)
